Led by our educational team with local artists, designers and makers, we offer monthly programs where you can explore hands-on projects around 3D design and printing, found object environments, upcycled jewelry, trending crafts and much, much more. The Museum of Craft and Design offers a variety of programming for kids that focuses on learning about artistic techniques. Our kid’s programs always include a hands-on opportunity for kids to explore their creativity in a supervised environment. Most of our kid’s programs are held in the John and Robyn Horn MakeArt Lab in the museum, others are conducted in appropriate locations in and around San Francisco.

Join us in the MakeArt Lab for one of our fun 2-hour workshops! Participants will receive in-depth instruction on a specific craft project and enjoy a kid-friendly tour of the gallery when relevant to the day’s activity. A healthy snack break in the middle keeps creative minds sharp!

Bring the whole family to Museum of Craft and Design for Family Day! These quarterly, drop-in events feature activities that will appeal to all ages and can be created together, or individually.

MCD is out in the neighborhood! Drop-in and get to making during one of these 90-minute library workshops. Projects are a bit simpler in scope to allow for your schedule and creativity level.

Drop by on the second Thursday of the month for one of our hands-on crafting events led by local artists and makers. We get creative after hours while enjoying themed drinks, music, and snacks. Meet new people, or bring your friends–MCD Craft Labs always make for a good time!

These half-day workshops are your opportunity to engage with exhibition-featured designers and experts in the field. From 3D design and printing, to sign painting and calligraphy, these hands-on projects allow the exploration of both emerging and traditional techniques in craft and design.
