Updated Museum of Craft and Design’s COVID-19 NOTICE

The Museum of Craft and Design is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of our museum visitors and staff. Aligning with local and federal guidelines, and San Francisco’s shelter in place mandate, the museum will be temporarily closed until May 1, 2020.

All April events both in the museum and offsite have been canceled. We will evaluate future programming, as well as a reopening date beyond March 31 and keep you informed via email, Facebook and Instagram, and our website.

The museum staff will maintain a remote work schedule to help answer any questions you may have and to continue planning for MCD’s future exciting education programs and exhibitions. For now please note that our current exhibitions, Survival Architecture and Linda Gass: and then this happened…. will be extended through the end of May and Moto MMXX will open to the public Father’s Day weekend, in conjunction with San Francisco Design Week and the launch of MCD’s Mobile MakeArt vehicle.

During these challenging and anxious times, we continue to believe in the power of art. We are committed to empowering you with proper information, helping to sustain a healthy community, maintaining calm, and reducing the chances for an increase in discrimination and xenophobia often created by global diseases.

Thank you for your trust in MCD and for helping us make creativity accessible to everyone.

Please contact us at if you have any questions.
