MCD Design Lab Happy Hour: Wire Armatures and Sculpture

June 14, 2019 @ 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Activate creativity and get inside new processes at MCD’s Design Lab Happy Hour.

Material Domestication exhibiting artist Adam Shiverdecker will take participants through the process of orthographic drawing and discuss the use of ceramic material on armatures.

Adam describes his work as “imagining what would happen if the entire military arsenal were simply pushed into the ocean.” As a committed pacifist he is also drawn to the sleekness, the power and the materiality of machines of war. His work attempts to represent his ambivalence to icons of military might by taking the forms of fighter jets, submarines and missiles and denaturing their surfaces.

Join this Design Lab Happy Hour for drinks, discussion and a hands-on exploration of Shiverdecker’s unique process and technique!

Gallery access, workshop materials + light snacks and happy hour beverages included.
