Dogpatch Sketch Crawl with Elizabeth Boults and Chip Sullivan

April 12 @ 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Dogpatch Neighborhood

Gain insights into the creative forces and hidden currents of nature. Discover Dogpatch’s hidden stories through drawing, sketching, and collaging with expert guidance of Elizabeth Boults and Chip Sullivan.

Join MCD and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) for a magical journey in search of the Genius Loci, the spirit of place, within the Dogpatch neighborhood. ASLA’s Elizabeth Boults and Chip Sullivan are the authors of Wisdom of Place and bring their place-based landscape architectural design expertise to this six-stop Dogpatch walk.

Upon meeting at the museum, Elizabeth and Chip will guide participants through a Sketch Crawl of the neighborhood, stopping at five local design landmarks before reaching Bayfront Park, the final sketch destination. This Sketch Crawl is designed to unlock a deeper appreciation for our historical urban neighborhood.

The first 20 people to arrive will receive a FREE sketchbook, generously donated by BLICK Art Materials. Some materials will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own sketchbooks and drawing/writing tools.

This is a free program, and registration is highly recommended.

We encourage participants to check out the museum at regular admission prices before or after the Sketch Crawl.

Please note that the group will depart from the museum parklet at 1:10pm, and our final destination is about a twenty-minute walk from the museum.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Chip Sullivan and Elizabeth Boults are experienced collaborators with established reputations as authorities in the discipline of landscape architecture. Both are considered motivational and inspirational teachers and mentors. The pair has significant national and international presence through their lectures, workshops and publications.
