MCD Design Lab: Silvia Levenson
January 30, 2016 @ 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
“I perceive a margin between feelings and objects that often I am not able to define totally with words; glass is a means to reveal it.”
-Silvia Levenson
In this hands-on MCD Design Lab, Silvia Levenson will explain the glass kiln-forming techniques she employs to achieve the effect displayed in her panel works, including Familia and Where Are You Going.
After an artist’s tour of Without Camouflage, workshop participants will mimic Levenson’s aesthetic through glass coldworking methods, collage work, and photo transfers to glass panes, candle votives, and more!
While a variety of images will be provided, participants are encouraged to bring their own photographs to further reflect the personal nature of Levenson’s work. Photocopies, black and white laser printed images, or photos to copy at the museum are all welcome.
Born in Argentina, Silvia has lived in Italy since 1981, and maintains her studio in Lesa.
Exhibition access, workshop supplies, and light refreshments included.
