Design a tile pattern based on an 8-pointed star shape, and then expand it to cover a placemat! This activity is inspired by the repeating patterns used in traditional Islamic design, known as “tessellation.”

This activity is appropriate for ages 4-14; younger kids may need some assistance from a parent/guardian.
