MCD Machinist Bar: Artistic Soldering Techniques

Activate creativity, exercise design skills, and get hands-on experience in soldering with Jack da Silva.
Visit the MCD Machinist Bar, sponsored by Center Hardware & Supply Co., Inc. to learn introductory techniques in artistic soldering! City College of San Francisco professor and metal artist Jack da Silva visits as instructor. Participants will create small wearable projects during the workshop using copper and brass components.
Jack da Silva studied jewelry and ceramics at San Jose State and recieved an MFA in Jewelry Design & Metalsmithing at Indiana University. His work is on view in private and public collections worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum. At MCD, view Jack’s contribution to the current exhibition Dead Nuts: a search for the ultimate machined object.
Workshop is free with museum admission. Gallery access and workshop materials included.
Four participants per session, for participants 12 and older. Pre-registration strongly recommended via link below. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and respondents will be notified of availability.
