MCD Movie Night: Pilchuck: A Dance With Fire

January 7, 2016 @ 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Founded by iconic figure Dale Chihuly and a few art school friends in the counterculture days of the early 70s, the Pilchuck Glass School pushed boundaries and the limits of a medium that can last centuries or shatter in an instant.

Through the story of this small and highly influential school in the Pacific Northwest, Pilchuck: A Dance with Fire highlights the remarkable convergence of visionary individuals, regional culture, and fortunate timing from which the studio glass movement was born. Pilchuck alum Megan Greer joins us to introduce the film with photos and a Q&A session about her experience.

Before the screening, view contemporary glass work currently on exhibition in Without Camouflage. Dafna Kaffeman. Silvia Levenson. Then, grab some popcorn and a glass of wine and join us for a look at how “a bunch of hippies with chainsaws” established the world’s premiere glass art school!
