MCD Speaker Series: Curator Conversations

July 16, 2016 @ 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

For this speaker series event, we are presenting two great walk-through conversations of the current exhibitions.

Join guest curator and CCA Textiles Chair & Interim Dean of Fine Arts, Deborah Valoma, as she leads visitors through Lines that Tie while discussing the far-reaching impact of Carole Beadle’s and Lia Cook’s illustrious making and teaching practices. Then join co-curators JoAnn Edwards and Ariel Zaccheo as they walk through Constructed Communication and discuss the artists, their craft, and how they relate to their respective communities.

For an added exploration of our concurrent exhibitions, swing by the MakeArt Lab to explore the exhibitions via hands-on interaction with the artists’ materials and tools, including lap loom weaving, Ruth Tabancay’s sugar tiles, and take-home quilting templates designed by Ben Venom!

Presentation, gallery access, activities, and light refreshments included.

Space is limited. Please purchase your tickets today.
