MCD SPEAKER SERIES: THE PHENOMENAL MUSEUM X PLAYLAB, INC
July 23, 2021 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Don’t stay in your lane! Join MCD, Make Conscious, and PLAYLAB, INC. for a lively discussion on cross-disciplinary strategies and co-creation–direct from the field of discovery!
How do silos stifle the creative process? How can holistic and playful systems of making dismantle and disrupt the traditional pipeline of research and design? At the end of the day, how can we love every moment of what we make? PLAYLAB, INC.’s Archie Lee Coates, IV and Make Conscious’ Jessica Kung Dreyfus explore the present opportunity to redesign our modes of organization and structure in the effort of more nurturing, whimsical, and creative work systems!

PLAYLAB, INC
PLAYLAB, INC. is an extremely multi-disciplinary Los Angeles-based creative studio founded in 2009. With no particular focus, we explore themes using art, architecture, and graphic design to initiate ideas for ourselves and others. PLAYLAB, INC. is: Archie Lee Coates IV, Jeff Franklin, Dillon Kogle, Ana Cecilia Thompson Motta, Peter Deering and Gabriel Chan.
Make Conscious
Make Conscious builds conscious systems and structures for home, land, office, and identity. We use cross-disciplinary methods that bridge global cultures and diverse traditions. We illuminate the urgency of socially and environmentally responsible solutions through our integrative approach to systemic change. We are a studio practice, a school, a non-profit, and a consultancy that collaborates with institutions, individuals, and companies to catalyze a paradigm shift.
The Phenomenal Museum
The Phenomenal Museum is a container to reimagine the frame of the museum through conscious place making. The dislocation of place post-Covid presents an opportunity to reset how we connect to place and reconnect to the original spirit of the museum. We have a unique opportunity now to reinvent how the museum exists in our minds, our cities, and our culture.
