Tan’s work investigates topics such as assimilation, consumer culture, and post-colonial immigrant diaspora. Her recent pieces utilize Filipino goods such as ube powder and mung beans to create patterns referencing traditional Filipino tribal tattoos and hand-loomed weavings.
