Mobile MakeArt: Creative Youth Celebration
July 19 @ 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Join the Museum of Craft and Design at Creative Youth Celebration and design your own identity button using shrinky dink plastic!
The Museum of Craft and Design is excited to bring Beau McCall-inspired Identity Buttons to this year’s Creative Youth Celebration! Organized by the Bay Area Creative Foundation (BACF), the celebration is the culmination of the Creative Youth Awards, which support the next generation of San Francisco artists – high school students.
The Creative Youth Celebration is the place to engage with the artwork and performances of awardees, connect with fellow creatives, and learn from professionals in the field like Daisy Nam, Kota Ezawa, Maw Shein Win, Ruby Ibarra, and Joe Talbot, the director of The Last Black Man in San Francisco.
Come on by the Creative Youth Awards and don’t miss your opportunity to create and connect, all in the name of celebrating young artists!
BEAU MCCALL IDENTITY BUTTONS
Artist Beau McCall of Buttons On! uses buttons to tell stories, express himself, and cast attention on the important social justice issues of our time. When creating wearable art, McCall’s signature style begins with a base of plain buttons. Onto this, he stitches identity buttons—symbolic pieces that elevate his work and infuse it with personal and cultural meaning.
Design your own identity button using shrinky dink plastic! Think about what you want the world to know about you, and start the conversation by creating a symbol you can adhere to your favorite outfit.
Plus, experience touchable art made by Beau himself and grab a free ticket to explore Beau McCall: Buttons On! at MCD!
