Mobile MakeArt: LightHouse for the Blind

April 4 @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired

The Museum of Craft and Design partners with the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired to facilitate monthly art projects reflective of MCD’s current exhibitions.

April’s project is inspired by Indie Folk and features artist Cappy Thompson’s gorgeous glass vessels. Cappy’s work is narrative, evoking fables and personal stories through art. Tell your tale and follow in Cappy’s footsteps as you create your own glass vase

This program is designed specially for the blind and visually impaired community. We welcome you to the LightHouse even if you are not currently involved with the organization. Please reach out to MCD Programs Manager Marie Deininger or LightHouse Adult Programs Coordinator Maia Scott for more information.

Indie Folk: New Art and Sounds from the Pacific Northwest

February 24–June 30, 2024

The Pacific Northwest is home to a unique artistic ecosystem involving craft traditions, pre-industrial cultures, and Indigenous and settler histories. Like folk art, the exhibition features handmade works that are unpretentious, and often blur the line between functionality and aesthetics.
