Mobile MakeArt – Stern Grove Music Festival

June 29 @ 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Sigmund Stern Recreation Grove

The Museum of Craft and Design is excited to announce our partnership with the Stern Grove Festival. Stern Grove is the longest-running, free non-profit music festival in the country, having brought free live music to San Francisco for over 88 years. This summer, MCD brings ‘Button-by-Number’ – a community-driven, Beau McCall: Buttons On!-inspired project to the Grove.

Stern Grove Festival is free, but tickets are required.

BUTTON-BY-NUMBER

The Button-by-Number project is a four-piece tapestry symbolizing Stern Grove. Join us each week to sew colorful buttons in place and transform the 2D tapestry into a multisensory piece of art that would make Beau proud. When sewn together, the final tapestry will be gifted to the Grove – a beautiful symbol of cultural partnerships and community creativity.

This project is powered by participation. We encourage all ages to swing by and sew in the KidZone, where the tapestry will be set up throughout the summer concert series.
