at The Museum of Craft and Design, SF

Wednesday, April 25th 8pm

Music Box Presents teams up with the Museum of Craft and Design to bring you a series of rare and intimate musical performances by some of the most recognizable names in recorded music.

An Evening with Steve Kilbey (The Church) and Amanda Kramer (Information Society, The Psychedelic Furs) will feature songs from Steve Kilbey & The Church’s rich catalog, as well as interpretations of songs by other writers, as he and Amanda recount their decades-spanning careers of playing on the stages of the world, via a tapestry of music and storytelling.

This event will be a one-of-a-kind opportunity to witness a rare and intimate performance by two iconic musicians whose work has stood the test of time.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Steve Kilbey Lead singer, bass guitarist and principal songwriter of The Church. The Church are an Australian psychedelic rock band formed in Sydney in 1980. Initially associated with new wave, neo-psychedelia and indie rock, their music later came to feature slower tempos and surreal soundscapes reminiscent of dream pop and post-rock.

The Church has released 26 albums and sold nearly 2 million records worldwide. Their 1988 album Starfish was Gold in the US and featured the classic hit “Under the Milky Way”, which has appeared in countless films and television shows. Steve has also released numerous solo albums and collaborations. He has written an impressive nearly one thousand published songs.

Amanda Kramer’s (Keyboardist) first band was Information Society, whose debut album was also certified Gold in 1988. She has played with The Golden Palominos, 10,000 Maniacs, Siouxsie Sioux and has been the keyboardist in the Psychedelic Furs for the last 15 years.

Kilbey and Kramer first met when The Church and the Furs toured together in 2015 and bonded over their mutual love of Dylan, Lou Reed, David Bowie and Burt Bacharach.

Exclusive VIP early entry and pre-show meet & greet from 7–8 PM. Only a select number of VIP tickets will be issued.
This is a very intimate show, entry is limited, ALL TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE. No tickets will be sold at the door.
