StoDistante, a temporary solution for a conscious post-pandemic use of public space, May, 2020; Vicchio, Florence, Italy
Caret Studio offers a grid of squares, to be painted with temporary paint on piazzas and other open spaces, as a guide to locate ourselves, as Italy, and eventually other places, reopen and are re-inhabited. Sto distante translates as “I am far away.” The 1.8 meter grid in a gradient that intensifies toward its center, indicates safe passage across the space as well as locations for gatherings. The pattern is reminiscent of the tiled and mosaic streets of Portugal.
