Director Collaborations to Shape Museum’s Future

San Francisco, CA. July 2017 – The Museum of Craft and Design is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracy Bays-Boothe as the institution’s Associate Director. Bays-Boothe comes to San Francisco from Denton, Texas where she served as Director of the Greater Denton Arts Council since 2014. Prior to her tenure in Denton, where she led efforts to revitalize the nonprofit’s mission and brand, secure international exhibitions, and expand grant and education programs, Bays-Boothe spent a decade at the Dallas Museum of Art in the education department.

JoAnn Edwards, Executive Director, Museum of Craft and Design states, “The Museum is fortunate to have found an individual as aligned with and deeply invested in our mission and vision. Tracy Bays-Boothe offers both pragmatic enthusiasm and experienced perspectives, in addition to an intelligence and penchant for creative thinking that will both encourage and benefit the institution and its team in further growing the Museum’s programming and community engagement. We are thrilled to welcome Associate Director, Tracy Bays-Boothe to the museum.”

Beginning her tenure in July 2017, Bays-Boothe will enter the museum during a period of both unprecedented growth within the museum and the Dogpatch district neighborhood. “I am deeply honored to be joining visionary Director, JoAnn Edwards and the talented MCD team during this exciting time in the museum’s history. I am especially delighted to be part of the MCD’s upcoming expansion of education and outreach efforts, furthering the Museum’s commitment to community collaborations in the Bay Area and beyond,” Tracy Bays-Boothe.

Dorrian Porter, chair of the Board of Directors, notes, “On behalf of my fellow Board Members, I am delighted to welcome Tracy to the Museum. Her leadership and academic expertise, as well as her breadth of experience with cultural institutions, at both the Dallas Museum of Art and the Arts Council in Denton, will accentuate and strengthen the Museum of Craft and Design’s team and our community outreach and education offerings.”
