Inspired by t.w.five and two defining Dogpatch buildings, the 1849 Tubb’s Rope Walk and the American Industrial Center, we will be creating versatile can + rope crafts using various cordage and adhesive vinyl elements. Projects include California poppy planters, miner’s lanterns, and jute vessels.

This April, join us for a complimentary glass of wine during our Artist Happy Hour, featuring the Sonoma Ash Project from 6-7pm. Then, look to the Tom Loeser exhibition for inspiration while exploring creative reuse with local upcycle designer and artist Miles Epstein, take a trip to the SCRAP craft buffet and create Earth Day succulent crowns with Oakland’s Mannequin Madness.

Designing Change: A Conversation with David Hogg

MCD welcomes Parkland activist, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student and author David Hogg, to San Francisco to share his personal story and vision for change in our country. Designing Change: A Conversation with David Hogg will include a lecture and Q&A at Minnesota Street Projects followed by a reception and book signing with Hogg at the Museum of Craft and Design.

Join olfactory artist Emily Endo for an immersive Living with Scents workshop exploring MCD’s Dogpatch neighborhood! This full-day intensive class will guide students through introductory perfume construction techniques, fragrance material families, and explore how to capture the scent of materials through tinctures. Participants will leave with their own Dogpatch inspired fragrance, sample blends, and a personalized tincture made in class.
