MCD Mobile MakeArt: Living with Scents + The Art of Natural Perfumery
May 14, 2022 @ 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Join MCD at the SF Botanical Garden’s Garden of Fragrance for a docent-led tour and custom fragrance workshop. After a walk through the flowers, explore the art of natural perfumery with Carole Addison-Goyne of Nomad Botanicals and Jessica Mennella of FLWR Napa Valley for a hands-on experience of the very botanicals that bring Living with Scents to life.
Natural perfumery is steeped in the history and beauty of botanical materials, which have been revered throughout the ages as a portal to our emotions, desires, and dreams. Perfume has held a place in our rituals, from those celebrated in ceremonies to even the most intimate ones of our daily lives. Carole and Jessica will cover the foundation and the art of natural perfumery, based on key concepts and processes of world-renowned perfumer, Mandy Aftel of Aftelier Perfumes.
Participants will create their own, unique perfume formula from a botanical perfumer’s organ of 18 exquisite absolutes and essential oils, while learning basic blending techniques of natural perfumery.
Be transported through scent in the gardens and take it home with you through your own signature perfume!
