Mobile MakeArt: Shipyard Open Studios
October 21, 2023 @ 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Explore the art of 130 local artists and get creative with MCD’s Mobile MakeArt on Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22! Usually closed to the public, Shipyard Open Studios represent a unique opportunity to wander through the open studios of artists, some of whom have been here since 1983. Emerging Bayview chefs and musical performances make this a day in Hunters Point you can’t miss!
Coinciding with the first weeks of our current exhibition, Designing Peace, this is a chance to explore design practices through hands-on making. MCD’s MakeArt project features the creative practice of Ramekon O’Arwisters, founder of Crochet Jam. Crochet Jam is a meditative, inclusive textile practice designed to foster connections and reflections amongst participants.
Craft to connect with in-person art making at the MakeArt van or pick up a FREE MakeArt Kit and admission to visit the museum.
FREE event and drop-in activity, all-ages welcome
