MCD’s Big Bid Bash will take place at Bould Design located at 1135 N Amphlett Blvd, San Mateo, CA.

MCD is partnering with CERF+ (a national “artist responder” that quickly mobilizes with emergency services after major disasters) and the Windgate Charitable Foundation to help artists affected by the devastating wildfires. MCD will donate 10% of the proceeds up to $10,000 from its upcoming Big Bid Bash fundraiser to CERF+.  To double our impact, the Windgate Charitable Foundation will match those funds dollar-for-dollar. Relief assistance will be provided to artists working in the field of craft directly affected by the Northern California wildfires and recovery information and resources will be provided for all studio-based artists. Big Bid Bash 2017 Honoree, Dorothy Saxe

This year’s Big Bid Bash is in honor of legendary collector and philanthropist, Dorothy Saxe!  Dorothy has been deeply involved in the arts since the 1970s when she and her late husband, George, began passionately collecting contemporary craft. Their collection has been generously shared in major museums throughout the country, including the Saxe Gallery at the de Young Museum.

With her discerning eye, immeasurable experience and sage advice, Dorothy energetically leads by example in philanthropy, supporting causes near and dear to her, including the arts and the Museum of Craft and Design. We are truly honored that Dorothy has chosen to be a devoted supporter of the museum and we are absolutely delighted to honor her at our Big Bid Bash!
