These engaging activations invite visitors of all ages to explore the themes, materials, and techniques featured in current exhibitions through monthly rotating projects. The MakeArt Lab is FREE with museum admission—come create with us!
CURRENT MAKEART LAB PROJECT
Subtractive Soap Sculptures
Many of the artists, designers, and makers featured in OBJECTS: USA carve their work using wood tools like chainsaws, chisels, knives, and hand-planes. This project challenges participants to revisit soap-carving memories from their childhood and borrow the subtractive approach to sculpt soap into something new. Can you carve a miniature piece of furniture or a familiar object?
